Mínima

A visual identity that mixes personal experiences, cultural, food and aesthetics in what is dubbed 'third culture cusine'.

Two brothers wanted a restaurant identity that wasn't inspired by their food, but was a reflection of them. This meant the brief was less branding and more biography, told through what they call 'third culture cuisine.'

At the brand's core is the brandmark, a radial pattern crafted with the two 'i's in Mínima repeated, spinning outwards, representing Benn and Mork's partnership and shared vision. From here we went looking for fingerprints. Childhood movies, sauce labels, grandparents, a comedian they both love, and (controversially) a carp, one of south-eastern Australia's worst freshwater pests, immortalised on a tote reading "Yo! Eat Mínima!" Each fingerprint represents something that formed them, and now forms the system of graphical silhouettes that live across the brand.

The silhouettes culminate in a mural inside the restaurant. The closest thing to a family photo album Mínima has.
